Getting iSketch to work in 2025

Method 1 - Pre-built Virtual Machine (easy to use, but a bit slower)

ZeBadger has created several virtual machines with Windows XP, Firefox and Shockwave preconfigured to work. Message ZeBadger and he will allocate a virtual machine to you. You will receive a login URL, a username and password. You can then visit the virtual machine in your (modern) browser.

Method 2 - Pre-built Virtual Machine (complicated, but faster)

ZeBadger has created several virtual machines with Windows XP, Firefox and Shockwave preconfigured to work. You will need to install a SPICE client like virt-viewer and message ZeBadger so he can allocate one of the machines to you. You will receive a username, password and two-factor authentication code.

Once you have done the above:

• Visit the Proxmox link provided by ZeBadger and login with your username and password, choosing Realm : Proxmox VE authentication server
• Enter your two-factor authentication code
• Once logged in, expand "Datacenter" and then "vms" and click on the WinXP virtual machine
• On the top right, click ▶Start to start the virtual machine
• Click the dropdown for >_ Console and select SPICE
• If the VM doesn't launch immediately, double-click the SPICE config file that has been downloaded
• When you launch Firefox, the iSketch page will load automatically
• Enjoy iSketch! The machine has been limited to only have access iSketch and task10.com
• When finished, shutdown the virtual machine, either inside Windows XP, or from the Proxmox web gui

Tip: If your mouse/keyboard gets stuck inside the VM, use CTRL+ALT+r to release it.

Method 3 - Use an older browser

Download and install the 32-bit version of Basilisk (unfortunately, this is no longer maintained, but it still works)

Install Shockwave available from The Internet Archive sw_lic_full_installer.msi or sw_lic_full_installer.exe

When you try to play, make sure that you visit this URL https://isketch.net/isketch.shtml
